Guy’s viral ad to sell his fiance’s battered old Honda is a work of absolute genius!

The only thing that’s more of a hassle than buying a new car is selling one; you spend days sprucing up your car and weeks advertising it on AutoTrader, only for some bloke to come round your house, kick the tyres once and offer you £500 less than what you wanted for it.

Surely there has to be a better way…?

Enter filmmaker Max Lanman, who’s shot to internet stardom after creating the spoof advert below to try and help sell his fiancé’s battered old Honda Accord.

Despite the fact that it’s 20 years old and with 141,095 miles on the clock, Max’s ad might just have done the trick – after listing it on eBay with a price starting at $499, bids shot up to over $150,000!

Max said that the reaction to the video has been “absolutely insane”, and claimed that inspiration to make an ad came while he was driving up the California coast on a camping trip with his fiancé Carrie.

“It dawned on me that it would be really funny to film a car commercial for a really crappy car against such a gorgeous backdrop,” he told the BBC.

There is just one catch; according to Max, eBay accidentally cancelled the auction and so he’s had to list it all over again! Still, prices have already climbed back up to $530 in a matter of hours as we write this.

Now, where’d we put that GoPro…?
